The 243 Heads are cast iron cylinder heads that have been CNC-machined to create larger intake and exhaust ports. The combustion chambers have also been machined to be smaller, which increases the compression ratio. While the 243 heads are not the newest or best option out there, they offer a great value for the price.So I have a friend who's got a 5.3 for sale supposedly out of a 2007 truck. I'm not sure were to look on the motor to know this for sure it has 862 heads which all the info I could find was that they came on the 99-00 5.3. It has a fan which I thought 05 ups had electric fans. I pointed this out to him which he pointed out it also has electric tb.It is way too small for an LQ4 IMO. I would do a set of ported 243 heads from either AI, TEA or TSP in that order. For a cam I would look at something like the TSP TQv2 or MS3. My cousin had an LQ4 with patriot ported 243 heads and an MS3 and it drove great behind a T56 with stock 3.42 gears.
