The Luger pistol has a shape and design like no other pistol from the same era. The Luger can be identified by the toggle joint on top of the firearm directly in front of the V-shaped rear sight. At the end of the barrel is a V-blade sight to match. These simple sights help with accuracy past 50 yards.It has two stamps on the receiver - 1917 and 1920. I think it's had a bit of a history as there are a few other unusual marks such as a barrel stamp in English and what appears to be erased stamps where you'd normally expect Waffenamt.
