It's in the same category as the finewood bow of overal usefulness, you can build it in the meadows, skip the huntsman bow as it isn't worth it and finally upgrade it in the mountains, heck it's still killing fullings without a lot of problems.Last time I fought Bonemass with Frost arrows it took about 90 arrows and he was dead in under 3 minutes. (I've also killed him in melee and in groups, over a dozen worlds so far). Killing 5 drakes for the freeze glands came naturally as I was exploring. The mountains aren't any harder to explore than the swamp if you have frost resistance mead.
